Hello everyone – It’s your style expert, George Kotsiopoulos! I’m here to tell you about what to wear when the warmer weather hits. You can expand beyond floral dresses and flip flops to try out these new on-trend looks!
Spring’s bold color blocking trend is the best way to brighten a rainy day or make a sunny one even better! Mixing a camel tone and a turquoise color in a sweater or grey and neon greens in shoes adds an unexpected pop and freshness to your day to day look. Even mixing materials is a great option – silk and linen, polyester and faux suede (both made from plastics!) – to mix it up and be bold this season. Check out the look here and here.
Getting outside when the sun is shining is so important to your mood and your body. I really like what designers did this season, taking the All-American look and influencing every day wear and accessories with a sporty twist. Designers like Proenza Schouler and Pierre Hardy added athletic-inspired details (like these) to their lines with plastic nylon fabrics, plastic netting and bright colored piping and detailing.
Probably the most influential trend of the season – hands down – is a throwback to the 1970s (plastic bangles, sunglasses with a 70’s flair can be seen here. Ali McGraw and Farrah Fawcett lovers, you’re in for a treat! Lightweight plastic fabrics like polyester are showing up in sheer shirts for day to night and light as a feather platforms (check out our favorites here) made with plastics are replacing the traditional clunky (and heavy!) wooden platforms of yesteryear. Don a floppy hat with big plastic sunglasses and your look will be complete!
I hope these few simple tips help inspire you to look your best even when the weather’s hot! Stay cool and dry this season with plastic!
Fashionably yours,
George
