Hi, everyone—I’m back! Now that you’ve incorporated some of my favorite summer staples into your warm-weather wardrobe, it’s time to start thinking about switching them out for a few of the fabulous fall trends on the horizon.
A growing trend that works perfectly for the earthy, neutral hues of a fall palette is an eco-chic look. Mixing and matching a great graphic tee made from recycled plastics with animal-friendly plastic faux-leather knee-high boots and jeans makes a great transition outfit from summer to fall. If you’re in the mood to add another layer, try throwing on a plastic faux fur vest for some drama and dimension. The weather transitions gradually, so why should we feel the need to switch out our seasonal wardrobes at the drop of a hat?
Just because bikini season is over doesn’t mean hitting the gym should go on hold. There are so many ways to spice up that sweaty chic look through fun, fashionable workout gear. Instead of the drab shorts and oversized hoodie, go for sweat-wicking leggings with plastic-based spandex and a brightly colored top that breaks up the monotony of monotone workout gear, adding some flair and intrigue. While it may be warm inside, don’t forget that the weather outside is changing, so a lightweight spandex, nylon, or even polyester-blend plastic fitted zip-up is essential. The key to making your work out gear fashionable is going with well-fitted, colorful garments that complement your figure without covering it up. You’re working out, so don’t hide your hard work, show it off!
One of my favorite things about cooler-weather fashion is all the accessories that go along with it. Fabrics that go dormant in the warmer seasons, like microsuede and faux fur (which are both from plastic!), re-emerge with great new fall and winter accessories. This season, I’m seeing a lot of hair accessories, like colorful plastic barrettes, bright nails like Minx plastic decals and patterns, and big belts on the runway. Obi belts are huge this season, and designers like Armani Prive featured them in their fall shows. Don’t be scared to add a statement accessory to a more subdued fall outfit to give it some life. Even the smallest of accessories like a hint of color in a hair accessory, a fun pattern on your nails, or a sparkly plastic sequined belt can change the entire look and feel of an outfit. Don’t shy away from incorporating unique statement accessories that let you wear your favorite cool-weather staples in a variety of ways.
I hope these tips and ideas have you excited for the cooler weather and fun fashion ahead. Remember, make fashion work for you, and be creative.
Fashionably yours,
George
