I absolutely love fall. Not only is it my favorite time of year, but it is also a time to have fun with your wardrobe again. After wearing just the bare necessities during a hot summer, fall is a breath of fresh air for me as I get to have fun with layering, outerwear, and leather that I have missed over the months.
Plastic Leather is Back
This fall leather is back in a big way—although not everyone may feel comfortable wearing leather, or the real thing might be too expensive. This is where faux leather made with versatile plastic materials comes in really handy: you can still be on trend without going against your beliefs or depleting your wallet. You can do a full plastic faux leather shift dress, or just one piece, or even plastic leather trim as an accent piece. I personally love plastic leather shorts and skirts.
I styled both these looks for a fall campaign recently. The skirt, the motorcycle vest, and the leggings are all plastic faux leather and some of my favorite items in my closet. And thanks to the durability of plastics, the quality of these pieces is excellent—I’ve had them for years.
Synthetic Fur is All the Rage
Faux fur is an excellent way to get in on the focus on fur details this season. Ladies love to take out their fur as soon as the weather cools down, and faux fur made with plastics is an animal-friendly and budget-friendly way to wear this trend. Manufacturing techniques for plastic faux fur have grown so sophisticated that it’s often almost impossible to distinguish it from the real thing.
Just remember that, unlike the leather trend, an all-fur look is not a good look at all. A great synthetic fur bag is affordable and a great statement piece to add to an ensemble.
