From plastic weather stripping, window film, insulation and foam sealant to renovations like replacing windows and doors — plastics can help to significantly reduce a home’s energy consumption. The Solar Decathlon, a competition that takes place every two years in Washington D.C., is one of the best showcases for innovations in energy-efficient homes. During the event, 20 college and university teams compete to design, build, and operate the most attractive and energy-efficient solar-powered home.
